Final Product!!!

Ive final got the design down packed!!!. Time to build the model and the drawings!!!!. I got a rough six days head of me but it will be well worth it ounce breaks starts!!! Here are some images of my work.

The Guild

This week is the final week of studio for the first semester. Ive been busy completing my design. I'm Having trouble with what i want my skin to be. I have a unique roof design and I don't want my skin to take away from it. Ive been looking at the Vital Building in Spain, Madrid by Javier Mozas & Eduaradio Agurrie. Here is my building design. I'm still playing with it in sketch-up. I should be done by tomorrow and ready to start my model and then my drawings.

Busy Week

This past week has been CRAZYY!!!!! Its the end of the semester and the work is coming by the bus load. My team members and I have just finished our building science project. For this project we had to build a small house. The parts of the house had to be pre-fabricated before the build day. (Note we had one hour to put it up.....very stressful) This project was fun and nerve racking all at ounce. Monday through wed there was little to no sleep. Wed night was the worse because around 4am the cladding feel of two walls. In the end our group pushed through it and got the componets done before the build day. Building our house in the hour was crazy. Our group had a slow start. We couldnt get our bolts through the post to connect the floor. After 15 minutes of stress we finally got the bolts through and our house up in the hour!!! (Might I add we where the first group to get ours up!!! GO TEAM!!!) There will be pictures up soon I am picking out the good ones!

Now on to studio. My head is spining I dont know what I'm going to do. I feel like im stuck with my design even though I want to change it badly. Ive been working through it trying to work with what I have. Im stuck with the concept of my desing being more of a peice of art then an actull building. I hope to get over this hump by the end of the weekend so I can kick it into overdrive and finish my project!! GOOD LUCK TO THE REST OF THE STUDIO!!!!!

Design 1

Here is my first design. I was playing with the roofing system. I want some of my roof line to come into the building to form rooms throughout the building. I don't know if i like it too much. I have a lot of kinks to work out with the design. This weekend I will be working on the concept some more to develop it.

The Guild

For this project our class was given a site in downtown Newport News. We have to design a 20,000 square foot facility for a guild of craft people. The building most consist of a workshop/studio space for the artisans, and museum/ gallery space.

We visited the site and got a feel for the surrounding buildings. The site is facing the water and has existing buildings to the right left and back of it. Here are a few pictures of the site and the class Study Model
